2007-2008 ProgramThere are two ECGH programs for girls that are 19 and under as of December 31st, 2007. They are: The goal of both programs is for girls to experience competitive hockey & prepare for their upcoming high school seasons in a fun, safe and friendly environment. Midget 1The Midget 1 program is designed for girls with a number of years of competitive hockey experience, either from ECGH or in other hockey programs, and who have mastered basic skating and hockey skills. Generally girls who play at for the Midget 1 team are either public school Varsity players/contenders or at a similar skill level. The goal of the Midget 1 program is to provide an opportunity for skaters to develop their individual and team skills in a series of 10 games in the most competitive division of the Middlesex Yankee Conference Girls’ League (MYC). The MYC Midget season begins in September and concludes the weekend before Thanksgiving, just prior to the start of the high school season. The Midgets typically play one game per week on Saturday or Sunday, between 7AM and 8PM. Generally the Midgets do not practice, although ECGH may provide one or two practice sessions within the season if ice time permits. Games will take place at Fessenden as well as other rinks in the greater Boston area. More information on the league can be found at http://www.mycgl.com/ Girls in this program are expected to attend the majority of games. While occasional exceptions for family and school conflicts are understandable, girls who are repeatedly absent may be asked to move to the Midget 2 program. This program formally begins in early September. Tryouts are required and only the most skilled players will be invited to join this program. The cost for the Midget 1 Program is $365. All of our coaches are USA Hockey trained, and CORI screened. Full hockey equipment is required (including mouth-guards and face masks). Coaches: Jeff Reed and Andy Gillies will coach the U19-1 team during the 2007-2008 season. Jeff has been an ECGH coach for seven years and currently plays competitive hockey. Andy has been an ECGH coach for three years and also plays competitive hockey. Generally girls who play at for the Midget 2 team are either public or private school Junior Varsity players or contenders. The goal of the Midget 2 program is to provide an opportunity for skaters to develop their individual and team skills in a series of 10 games in a mid-level competitive division of the Middlesex Yankee Conference Girls’ League (MYC). The MYC Midget season begins in September and concludes the weekend before Thanksgiving, just prior to the start of the high school season. The Midgets typically play one game per week on Saturday or Sunday, between 7AM and 8PM.
